Emmy Award-winning journalist, President of the Society of Professional Journalists
Journalism Professor Ashanti Blaize-Hopkins is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, producer, and public relations expert. She worked as a TV news anchor, reporter and producer in Florida, Texas, and Nevada and produced branded video content for companies.
She was Assistant Director of Student Media at Loyola Marymount University and taught journalism at LMU, UCLA Extension, USC and Richland College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Columbia University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Miami.
Her research interests include the effects of social media in agenda setting for traditional media outlets. Fun fact—Professor Blaize-Hopkins was a break dancer in college.
